20110225 Homemade Anyone?

Nothing as handy as whipping up your own.
My second attempt at giving a home made stuff for a gift.
When bogged with what to give...
I have two more hours, off the to kitchen I go..

20110219 Mosaic

A piece of artwork
Intricate as it can be
Not at all candied
Just chocolate unattended

Take a closer look
What a masterpiece it is
Something so unplanned
Give credit to no man's hand.

20110217 Who Knows

A photo taken while chasing shadows.
I love the fun part of trying things out
and coming up with surprises.

20110211 臘肉

My friend Ruth's home-made preserved pork.
Not at all salty as the name Salted Preserved Pork connotes.
Thank you dear friend for sharing 2 pcs of it with us.
Everyone said it is THE BEST!

20110206 Chinese Brush?

It looks like Chinese painting to me.
The thing that is painted on a paper umbrella or a fan.
This was taken on our way home from a late night movie,
a pastime our family enjoys
I am looking forward to the flowers that will be growing on this tree soon.

This is my entry for a meme.
Click here to see more shadow shots.
Your eyes would be roaming for more, day and night,
and your camera won't have a day of rest for sure.

P.S. Changed my title to Chinese Brush, since this is not a calligraphy - sorry.

20110206 Guess What this is..

Good if you already know what this is
Care to tell me what it's called?

20110206 Amazing Skill (Candy Making)

I waited to see how this sticky brown thing
would turn into a white candy bar,
as you would see on the lower right part of this photo
Thang (Sugar) Chung ( Scallion)
Maybe because it looks like that of the white part of scallion.
Amazing skill
and this is just the first stop.

20110205 New Year Activity

The best place to be
Not a crowded, perfect place
Can stay here all day.

(I just love the way they're slanted at the bottom)

Paid attention to
Books on living and decor
Browsed through ten or more.

Rows and rows of seats
One can sit and browse for free
Where else should I be?

20110205 Hi! Everyone

Look what caught my sight
Round circles hang in fish strings
There for some reasons.

Grabbed a hold of one
Fit my face exactly right
Hi! to Everyone.

20110203 Sticky Rice Cake (Nian Gao)

Pan fried Sweet Sticky Rice Cake (Nian Gao)
http://www.answers.com/topic/nian-gao
Sticky Rice Cake (Nian Gao)
Eaten the day after the New Year's Eve Reunion Dinner
This has become a traditional gift from
my Mother-in-law.
It is now sold in a many varieties, ready to eat
but I prefer this basic one.

Sliced them into thin pieces,
Heated a little oil in pan,
arranged the pieces
and poured in egg and flour mixture.
The Cooked side while waiting for the other
side to brown a bit.
Yummy sticky sweet stuff that goes well with
coffee or tea.
